Maximise savings on your lighting

A lot of fuel stations are still consuming a lot of energy. Although there is growing awareness that energy-efficient lighting is better for the environment and especially nowadays for one’s wallet, a lot of fuel station managers are waiting until their existing lighting reaches the end of its technical lifespan. Which is a shame, thinks Erwin Dingemanse, Commercial Director at Bever Innovations. ‘What it means is that they’re missing out on significant savings potential.’

‘LED is a versatile light source and the potential savings are huge’, he says. ‘In terms of energy, for instance. Switching from conventional lighting to LED will soon save 60-70% in terms of energy consumption. With the LED lighting from Bever Innovations, these savings could even be up to 80-90%, thanks to intelligent dimming options (thanks to the integrated Smart Technology). Consequently, in 9 out of 10 cases it’s possible to recoup one’s investment in Bever LED lighting within as little as 3 years.’

Energy saving due to intelligent dimming

Whereas conventional lighting is on full power 12 hours a day, Bever’s LED lighting automatically dims to ⅓ of lighting capacity in the absence of customers. An option that can really help when there is minimal activity at the fuel station, particularly between 00:00 and 06:00. Dingemanse: ‘As soon as motion is detected by the motion sensors in the Bever luminaries, the lights automatically and imperceptibly come up to a certain level of lighting. Thereby enabling safe, comfortable refueling even after sunset. What’s more daylight sensors automatically fine-tune the light output to the available daylight, thereby stopping energy from being wasted’.

Saving on maintenance costs

In addition to saving on energy consumption, using LED lighting can save you considerable sums on maintenance costs. ‘A good LED light source will have a lifespan of 100,000 hours, which is significantly longer than a conventional luminary (10,000 hours)’, explains Dingemanse. ‘Moreover, LED lamps are maintenance-free during their lifespan. In addition to this, the luminaries don’t contain any chemicals that are harmful to the environment like mercury, thereby minimizing their impact on the environment.’

Oil companies are under pressure to implement measures that will drive down CO₂ emissions and save the environment. Switching to intelligent LED lighting will make a significant contribution in this regard, says Dingemanse.
